I know that everyone has been wanting me to post new blog and I just had a couple of minutes so I thought I would get something new. I am here in Chicago for the week of orientation. The days are busy with guest speakers, motivational speakers, bible study and reflection. I have been able to meet and get to know a ton of incredible people, all here to serve God in places I have never heard of. We still have that bond though, the fear of the unknown, the excitement of leaving, the questions, the tears for loved ones left behind. We all are leaving, that bonds us in a way that no one can re-create. This week is supposed to prepare us for the
journey ahead, what I keep telling myself is that no one, nor anything said to me could ever prepare me for the year that lies ahead. So, I listen carefully to my mind and my heart, trying to find a balance between the two. I laugh a lot and surround myself with good people to pass the time.
Last night about 16 of us went to go see the Chicago White
Sox play at home. It was such a nice night, cool breeze and
starry sky. We all sat and talked about (mainly our journeys ahead) but about joys and fears! It was a great time for all of us and we bonded even more out there among 33,000 die hard fans! The
Sox won and we all came back and hit the sack!
This week is about preparation. I prepare for a life changing event. An event that just may shape the rest of my life. I know that this will afford me a new look on life. I am blessed by the people that I meet here and hope and pray that God moves through them as He is moving through me.
God's Blessings to you all.
Love,
Melissa
